Dinners in the Dark - BLACKOUT

Have  you ever wondered what it’s like to dine in the dark? The theory of  intensified flavors when removing sight was a brought to life by Jorge  Spielmann, a blind clergyman. The first experience of a “Dark  Restaurant” took place in Paris, followed by the first permanent  restaurant in September 1999. Blindfolded friends who dined in his home  reported greater enjoyment of their meal through the sense of taste and  smell. 

The concept of “dark dining”  is based on the thought that when we remove one of our senses, our  other senses become more heightened. In this case, removing the ability  to see the meal placed before us will give our remaining senses of  taste, touch and smell, a chance to define and discover unique  attributes of any dish. Smells, textures, and sounds all become more  intense and come alive within oneself.

Immerse  yourself in a unique blindfolded dining experience designed to heighten  your senses and tantalize your taste buds. “Dinner in the Dark” is a  gastronomical experience that invites you to explore the full potential  of your palate in a uniquely entertaining atmosphere. While blindfolded,  you’ll enjoy exquisitely prepared dishes and savor a lavish dinner  without using your sight, thereby enhancing your other senses.

How Does it Work?

Exclusively created for this event, the sensorial menu will surprise and test your palate. 

Choose a color. 

  • GREEN (Vegan)
  • BLUE (Seafood)
  • RED (Meat)

Once you arrive, we ask that you don your provided blindfold so the adventure can begin.

To maintain the mystery, here are a few particulars prior to your arrival:

  • Diners wear comfortable blindfolds throughout the event. The dining room is not dark but the lights will be dim. 
  • Dinners are 4 courses paired with complementary wine. Please allot 2 hours for the dinner, start to finish. 
  • Menus are secret until the end of the meal, so naturally you’ll  enjoy guessing which food and wine is on the plate and in the glass.
  • Any dietary restrictions can be accommodated prior to arrival.  When you purchase your tickets you will be prompted to inform us of any  allergies or dislikes.
  • Tickets must be purchased in advance. Pricing includes food and gratuity. The wine is complementary during the evening. 
  • On arrival, we give you an orientation outside and answer  questions before leading you into the dining room with your blindfold  on.
